Baptism Marks Another Milestone for Inverness Group

In a touching ceremony filled with faith and reflection, Nikola Thomson, originally from Edinburgh, was baptised on Saturday, August 17th, at the Abernethy Christian Centre in Nethy Bridge. Nikola, who comes from a largely non-religious background, has experienced profound growth in her faith over the past six years, fuelled by her aspiration to lead a more God-centred life. She attributes her strength in overcoming past challenges to what she believes is God’s guidance and support. This deepening of her faith has inspired her to fully commit to a life driven by spiritual values and to create a more enriching future for herself and her family.

Surrounded by her family and fellow believers, Nikola's baptism was celebrated by members from both the Inverness and Elgin church groups, who travelled to the serene setting of Abernethy Christian Centre to witness and support this special occasion. The day served as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of faith and the ongoing process of spiritual renewal.

The day's events began with a Sabbath church service, where Pastor Wil Masih delivered a compelling sermon centred on the concept of being "Born Again," as described in John 3:7. His message emphasised the importance of spiritual rebirth and encouraged all attendees to reflect on their personal commitment to God.

Following the morning service, the focus shifted to the afternoon baptismal ceremony. As Nikola stood before her community to declare her faith, the congregation observed in supportive silence. The ceremony symbolised the washing away of her old life and the beginning of a new one in Christ, evoking a deep sense of unity and collective faith among those present.

The atmosphere at Abernethy Christian Centre was one of profound connection and spiritual solidarity. The ceremony not only highlighted Nikola’s dedication but also served as a powerful testament to the transformative love of Christ for each individual who accepts Him as their personal Saviour. The day concluded with a prayer, as family and friends embraced Nikola, forming a circle of support and encouragement for her new journey with Christ.

Nikola’s baptism stands as a testament to her growing faith and marks a significant milestone in her life. Patrik Mikulka, the local leader at Inverness, remarked that the baptism was especially meaningful as he observed the growth of the church group each Sabbath. Garry Bowie, the local leader at Elgin, found inspiration in the message of being born again in relation to Nikola’s baptism. Pastor Masih expressed encouragement, noting, “I feel particularly uplifted today because this baptism is evidence that God is moving in the Scottish Highlands.
